Telfien Viuraanvi

(Gand Findswoman, Zuckuss's Belovèd, Mark II

Just a second version of my little fanfictional Findsmaiden. I made her for a few reasons. First, I had a cast of the head of a Vintage Zuckuss (sorry, purists, I refuse to refer to that figure as "4-LOM") made by Delaton of the FFURG FForums, and thought I'd try it out in a custom. (Thanks again for the cast, Del!) Secondly, I thought it would be cool to attempt an “unmasked” version of this character, much as I did with my refitted 12” Zuckuss. But for the third (and real) reason I made this custom, you'll have to read through to the end...

Thhough my first version of Telfien is based on a POTJ Bespin Escape Leia, I decided to try using the equally petite POTJ Deluxe Slave Leia as the base for this figure. I removed the loincloth, sanded down the breasts and other accents, sanded and cut the hands in order to give her the proper three fingers per hand, and sculpted on a pair of bloomers in Sculpey (visible in the smaller photo). Her head, as mentioned before, is a cast of the Vintage Zuckuss head made by Delaton, although the breath mask over the mouth has been whittled down somewhat in order to make it look more like an insect’s mandibles.

The accessories are nothing all that special. She wears Ep. I Tatooine Anakin’s backpack, carries the same small gun and vibrostar that Telfien mark I has, and the staff from POTF2 Saelt-Marae (Yak Face). I chose the latter because it looked sort of like the polearm carried by the Gand Findsman illustrated in the Essential Guide to Alien Species (2001).

What about her outfit? I regret to say I did not sew this one myself (though I replaced the red ribbon that originally came with the robe with a green one, and ripped out the trim on the sleeves, since it made them too long). Her robe is actually a bathrobe from a set of Li’l Bratz pajamas, an impulse buy from my local Target. (“Wow! Those would be perfect for a Gand female! I wonder if they’d fit 3.75” figures?”) They turned out to fit Deluxe Slave Leia perfectly, so Telfien was the logical next step. And there you have the real reason I made this figure. Huzzah for impulse buys and customs!

Finally, just for fun, here is a picture showing my two Telfiens side by side. I was struck by how different they look from each other! I guess I still have to work out her final design...
