What better way to crown the opening of a new website than with all-new pictures of my first custom figure ever? It is from this custom that I took my alias of “Findswoman.” Telfien is yet another fanfic character of mine, which is why none of you have probably ever heard of her. She starts out as Zuckuss’s “padawan learner” (or whatever the equivalent is for Gand Findsmen), and they eventually fall in love -- but then something tragic happens that sends him off into the galaxy. (No, nothing like that!)
Since Gands are not large beings, and since this particular Gand is particularly small, I used the diminutive POTJ Bespin Escape Leia as a base. (Eventually I added the bootfeet of Episode I Padmé Naberrie, just because I liked the look.) The head and hands come from POTF2 Zuckuss, which I got on Ebay for more money than I care to remember. I used the “peg and socket technique” from A. Nonymous’s Customizing Tips page to give her wrist articulation. (In fact, note that A. Nonymous illustrates the technique with a Zuckuss arm -- that’s because he originally made the illustration while helping me make this custom back in Fall 2001!) I primed and repainted the head and hands with Testors Model Master Acryl paints, including a wonderful gold for the eyes.
Her outfit is based on a drawing that Beedo once made, which is shown below. I stiched her cloak out of some pink satin-like fabric. (Beedo later told me he had originally intended a light coral color instead -- every monitor’s different, I guess!) Then I gave her a green sash and scarf made from bits of beading cord and ribbon. Finally, she carries two small weapons: a pistol from POTJ General Leia Organa, and a “vibrostar” -- sort of a ninja star that uses vibroblade technology -- which is just a silver star-shaped bead. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet found any 1:18 scale orchids with purple leaves, but I’ll keep looking!
I also have a 12” doll of this character, which is more faithful to the details of Beedo’s drawing (though she doesn’t have an orchid yet, either).
