Hasbro has not yet made an action figure version of Her Worship in General / Endor / Speeder Bike Gear with which I am entirely happy. The version that came with the POTF2 Speeder Bike had a cheap plastic poncho and a non-removeable helmet. POTJ General Leia Organa, however, had neither poncho nor helmet, and lacked the knee articulation would allow her to ride a speeder bike. Both had ridiculously oversized pelvises. This, I thought to myself, looks like a job for the Findswoman...
I started with a POTF2 Speeder Bike Leia. By slitting the torso in half along the seams, I removed the offending pelvis and replaced it with a different, smaller one that was about the same color as her pants. (Not sure which figure it comes from, exactly, though A. Nonymous thinks it might be Sneak Preview Mace Windu.) To this I attached Speeder Bike Leia’s jointed legs, and then glued the whole thing back together at the seams, filling in gaps with Premo! Sculpey where necessary.
It took me a while to get her head and helmet right. I had originally tried to hollow out Speeder Bike Leia’s helmet, but the result was a) too small for any of the POTF2 Leia heads I had and b) generally less than successful. I had also tried to glue “hair” braids on a POTF2 Slave Leia, but the result ended up being too big (and the braid pieces didn’t stay glued very well). In the end, I gave her a POTF2 Hoth Leia head, kindly donated by A. Nonymous, and a helmet hollowed out from a POTF2 Endor Rebel Soldier, also kindly donated by A. Nonymous. (My first successful helmet-hollowing attempt ever!)
Finally, using various brown and green paints and some tan fabric also donated by A. Nonymous (don’t know what I’d do without him), I made her a soft-goods poncho with a nice woodland camo print, and tied it around her waist with a small strip of black leather. Her gun comes from the very first POTF2 Princess Leia Organa.
Note that she’s displayed on a stand -- something impossible for the original Speeder Bike Leia, since she had no holes in her feet. I added some with my Dremel tool.
