Eirtaé

(Battle Dress / Naboo Swamp)

Some collectors build armies of Stormtroopers, others build armies of Clone Troopers, yet others Wookiees... but for this customizer, who is a pretty girly sort, it’s Royal Naboo Handmaidens. Eirtaé is the third of my handmaiden customs, and having finished her there’s just one more to go (since Sabé has already been made by Hasbro in the POTJ line). Like the first two, Saché and Rabé, Eirtaé is made from the body of an Episode I Queen Amidala (Naboo Battle Dress). Her head came from a POTJ Bespin Escape Leia, mostly for variety’s sake, so that they don’t all look exactly like Amidala. (Besides, Eirtaé is the oldest of them, and the Bespin Escape Leia face just looks a bit "older" than the Amidala one.) I replaced Leia’s double-braid-loop hairpiece with the one from the Amidala figure (note that Rabé’s hairdo is an exact swap!) and painted the hair blond on the advice of a Handmaiden recipe seen on FFURG.

Now, if you have seen my other three handmaiden customs, you may may have noticed that they tend to have weathering and mud stains painted on, being as they are in a swamp when we meet them in these battle outfits. Therefore, it may seem a little strange and inconsistent to see that I have done Eirtaé with no weathering whatsoever. In fact, I repainted her boots a whole new coat of semi-gloss black to cover up the small bit of weathering that Hasbro already painted on the toes. Here’s my reasoning: According to the lore, she comes from a noble family -- which is more than even Amidala can say for herself -- and she is the one who helps the other handmaidens (as well as the Queen) with the proper protocol. Thus it seemed to me that she would be a prim and proper type who would make it a point to keep her person in a condition of pristine cleanliness at all times, which means avoiding swamp mud at all costs and keeping her boots impeccably polished.
