“Our ultrastrong loyalties and royalties to Republicness and whatever it may stand for will not let splitty-types coax-haggle Squibbish into leaving, no matter the size of the haggleprize.”
Thus spake his highness King Ebareebaveebeedee, the diminutive Grand Monarch of Skor II, home of the scavenging rodentine Squib. According to Expanded Universe lore, Ebareebaveebeedee (no, I did not make up that name) was the commander of a Squib reclamation ship before becoming King around the time of the fall of the Old Republic (that is, about the same time as Episodes II and III). The character first appeared in one of the West End Games Star Wars RPG sourcebooks, Scavenger Hunt (1989), but the first place I came across the Squib sovereign was in this very amusing story on HoloNetNews.com, from which the above quote is taken. Without the fabulous picture by renowned Star Wars and comic book artist Joe Corroney, I never would have been able to attempt this figure.
The head of this figure was sculpted and cast by the customizer known as EUCustomMan, whose Squib customs are way better than mine and can be seen here and here. (Many thanks again, EUCM!) It is on the repainted body of Saga Boba Fett (Kamino Escape), which has been given the legs from Episode I Anakin (Naboo Padawan) for a more neutral pose. He wears the cloth cape from a ROTS Count Dooku, slightly altered to fit and dolled up a little with a medallion made from a gold sequin. His “beard” is made with hot glue. Alas, he has to remain bare-headed for now, since I have not been able to find a crown small enough to fit between those ears. But even so, this miniature monarch is ready to defend his ultrastrong loyalties to the Republic against all comers -- “you bet.”
