After having met the extremely sweet and gentlemanly Garrick Hagon at Star Wars Celebration II, I’ve had bit of a soft spot for Biggs Darklighter, Luke’s old pal from his Tatooine years and fellow X-Wing pilot in the Battle of Yavin. So, after picking up the F. A. O. Schwarz Biggs and Wedge Two-pack at Star Wars Celebration III in April 2005, it seemed only logical to dress Biggs in his outfit from the Anchorhead cutscene from A New Hope.
Since the the Biggs doll from the two-pack wore big ol’ gloves, I pulled them off and replaced them from a pair of hands harvested from a Saga 12” Imperial Officer, painted peach. I also gave his hair a tiny bit of dark brown wash. His shirt, jacket, and cape are hand-sewn. The jacket in particular was murder, because I made the mistake of using denim, and didn’t have a sewing machine at that time; now that I have one, I may remake it sometime. Fortunately, I didn’t have to sew his pants, since someone Mattel already did so for me! (They’re Ken pants from the 80’s or so.)
